The Project:


The first contract awarded to TECHNlTAL concerned the Preliminary design and environmental impact assessment of the works necessary to improve accessibility to the port of Genoa.

The preliminary design and related environmental impact assessment of the works necessary to improve accessibility to the port and create better functional areas was completed in 1999. It foresaw three urban interchanges in the Sampiedarena area of Genova, between the Polcevera river in the west and S. Benigno district in the east

*      link from Pieragostini bridge to the port area and the seafront (Lungomare Canepa),
*
      reorganization of the seafront road and parking area for lorries, 
*
      link to the customs area of the port.

Subsequently Technital was commissioned to carry out the detailed design for the Polcevera accesses, including connection to the motorway network, improvement of the interchange, reorganization of the seafront and service areas of the port and redesign of the entire road and rail system in accordance with the urban and port planning requirements.
