NEW WATER DISTRIBUTION NETWORK FOR THE CITY OF VENICE –ITALY

The project:

Preliminary design of the new water supply network for the city of Venice, from a new pumping station located on the island of S. Secondo:

  • design flow rate                 1500 liters/sec.

  • storage tank capacity               20,000 cu.m. 

The project included:

  • geological investigations of the island of San Secondo

  • design of civil works (pumping station and 4 storage tanks, service tunnel, valve chamber)

  • design of technological plants (mechanical installations of the pumping station, fire-fighting, sanitary, ventilation and heating installations for the staff areas, electrical, automatic operation and remote control installations);

  • design of the undersea pipeline distribution network

  • environmental landscaping study of the pumping staion and related plants and personnel areas, to minimise the impact of the new works on the environment.
